Around the beginning of my third year in drama school, I started feeling extremely disconnected to what I was doing be it singing, dancing or acting. And for the longest time, I couldn’t pinpoint what it was that I had been having such a hard time with. I felt fine physically and mentally but something was missing and I couldn’t figure it out. About a little more than a year later, after months of counseling and talking to friends, it turns out that I wasn’t comfortable with my own sexuality and that was what kept me from connecting.
My main advice would be to remember to “do you”. We live in a world where people in power think they can take control of our bodies and that should simply not be the case. It is your own decision to do what you want in your life and you have the power to control it no matter what anyone says or does.
