A year ago, I visited Brazil – a country with a population so incredibly diverse and beautiful; comprising a multitude of races, body types, colors and builds. In the short time I was there, I realized that one’s body’s fat percentage, cellulite, stretch marks or dark spots, didn’t alter their ability or willingness to wear a bikini. Everyone was unique, proud, even blind to their differences.
My eyes were opened. I started the ongoing process that is treating my body with respect. I immersed myself in natural nutrition and weightlifting rather than starving and slaving away to cardio. I’m proud to say that today, I haven’t looked at a scale in over a year. & today, the body I work towards is one that is healthy, muscular and capable. One that I would want my daughters to idealize because its healthy, powerful and unique to them. Not because they want to fit an ideal, but because they are comfortable with their personal reality.
